Wimborne Town FC to hold trials for budding players

Wimborne Town FC have announced two exciting new ventures for the 2016/2017 season.

Following an internal restructure, the club is creating two new squads, with the emphasis on the continual development of youth players, who have represented the club in the Junior Premier League for the past 3 years.

The first opportunity is for players, born between Sept 1998 – August 2000, to supplement the club's existing JPL U16's in forming a new U18 squad. The U18's will primarily compete in the South West Counties Youth League and will also be entered into the FA Youth Cup. Finally, to drive home Wimborne Town's commitment to player development, U18 players will have regular opportunities to participate within the second of the new initiatives – the Wimborne Town Development Squad.

The Development Squad replaces the traditional 'Reserves' setup and will participate within the Wyvern Combination League. The age range for the Development Squad is from 16-25, although the upper age should be seen as more of a guide than a boundary. As well as representing the club, one of the primary roles of the older players will be to help guide the U18's as they begin their move into adult football.

The final player progression would then be from the Development Squad to the Wimborne Town first team, which is managed by Simon Browne and competes within the Evostick Southern Division 1 South & West league.

There are U18 Squad Trials on Saturday 7th May 2016 from 11am until 1pm and on Saturday 14th May from 2pm until 4pm.

The development squad trials will be held on Saturday 14th May from 2pm until 4pm and on Saturday 21st May 2016 from 11am until 1pm.

The trials will be held at the Wimborne Town FC Training Pitches on Cowgrove Road.
