Summary
The Carshalton Athletic Football Academies are full time sports and educational programs run in conjunction with Stanley Park High School. There is both a male and a female academy.
The main aim of the Academy is to enable promising young football players (16-18yrs) to continue with further education whilst striving to become a semi-pro or professional football player.
Educational syllabus includes -
· A levels – wide range of choice
· BTECs – Mainly sports related
Successful applicants typically join the first year of the academy in the school term directly following GCSE exams (year 12).
The Academy program runs for a two year period – during this time students will spend about half the week studying for A Level or BTEC qualifications and the other half participating in the football development program.
Each student will receive approximately 6-9 hours per week in active training.
Stanley Park High School have recently moved to a new 38M educational complex just a mile or so from the club. They are able to offer some of the most advanced educational and sports facilities in the UK.
Academy Teams
Academy students make up the following Carshalton Athletic Teams.
The Reserves Team (Suburban Premier League)
The Ryman Youth League (Floodlit)
The Football Conference Youth Alliance League
Many academy students have been successful in breaking into the first team at the age of 17 and 18.
The club has a bold youth development policy in place which forms the basis for first team recruitment.
Applying
Students can apply to register for the academy from as early as the age of fifteen (Year 10), but more usually students will apply when they are in their GCSE year (year 11).
The scheme is likely to be oversubscribed, so we recommend registering your interest at the earliest possible time.
