JOBS AT EVERTON FC Everton Football Academy is developed in order to invest in upcoming footballing talent and provide the network, coaching, health and lifestyle advice that each player needs to make a successful career in football. If you are looking for a career in football, and live in the Everton catchment, then your best chance will be to join Everton FC Academy. Everton Academy offer an advanced football development and education programme supported by expert and dedicated staff. Everton FC Academy is located at: Finch Farm, Finch Lane, Halewood, Liverpool, Merseyside L26 3UE Everton FC Academy use advanced technology and coaching methods to develop their players. They are actively looking for upcoming talent to join their academy, and are very selective about who gets in, as competition is tough. With the changes that have taken place in the football academy system. Academy Category one clubs are now free (U12+) to recruit from all over the nation. Previously, Category one clubs could only recruit talent within a 90 minute travelling time to the academy, but the FA have reconsidered this following thinking that the best talent should only fairly be allowed to play in the best academies even if they do not live nearby. This gives the very best talent the very best chances of success, thus growing our home grown talent for the international stage. This has seen a rise in host families being recruited at Everton FC Academy, to help house young promising talent in safe family environments. Everton Academy has a whole programme of upcoming activities, fixtures and events. Check the times of each match or look up the match venue for any of the Everton Academy. You must be selected to have a trial at Everton Academy, so it is important that players are spotted in the right places at the right times. For some players, they prefer a direct approach sending in links to videos of themselves playing football, but it is worth bearing in mind that clubs receive thousands of these videos each week and simply don’t have time to watch them all and go about their daily business, so the most effective way of getting scouted for a trial at Everton FC Academy is to join a Everton Soccer School Scouts regularly select young players from soccer school sessions and invite them to trial at the development centres for Reading FC, and anyone can play in their soccer schools so it offers an open door for all to get spotted. It is also particularly good planning to take your child to soccer schools as soon as they are old enough, as their competition will be doing the same, so it enables them to develop their talents in line with the same level as their peers. Everton Academy scouts offer players the chance to trial. Many players are lucky enough to find themselves in the right places when scouts are watching games, but Everton are also very aware that good talent can slip through the net, so do offer players the chances to directly contact them with the below details. Understandably they are unable to respond to everybody due to the volume of applications, but this does serve as an effective way to alert scouts about talent looking to take their football to the next level and secure a trial for Everton FC Academy. The training programme at Everton Academy is broken into technical and tactical training, with a special module for Goalkeepers. Club Football Philosophy
Everton Football Club’s football philosophy is based around our long standing motto “Nil Satis Nisi Optimum” which translates into “Nothing but the best is good enough”.
It is an ethos that is followed diligently by every single player and member of staff. Everybody is valued and everybody makes a contribution. This is a belief that is in-line with the “spirit” associated with the City of Liverpool.
The ultimate aim is for the 1st team to win football matches, ideally through entertaining and attacking football, whilst always giving 100% effort and determination.
Everton is a coaching club. It provides everybody with the opportunity to develop as players, coaches and people. Whether recruited from other clubs or developed through our own Academy, all are given a platform to succeed through high quality, extensive football coaching, physical development and performance education programmes.
All players are given every encouragement to improve and develop as footballers and young men. The Club has a proven track record of identifying and producing some of the game’s finest football talent. A key element of this success is our “one club approach”. This requires the 1st team and Academy to maintain a strong and supportive working relationship at all times.
Over the years, the Club has been referred to as “The School of Science”. We are very proud of this reputation and we regularly embrace new and fresh ideas whilst remaining grounded and respectful of the Club’s magnificent history, tradition and standing.
Academy Football Philosophy
We will endeavour to produce young players with the skills, qualities and attributes needed to play professional football at the highest level through the delivery of high quality coaching and an elite player development programme.
We will strive to develop balanced young people by teaching, instilling and up-holding the Club’s vision, values and football philosophy.
We will always attempt to put the development of individuals before the results of teams.
All Academy departments will work together to support the needs of all our players with the common goal of creating a pathway from the Academy to the 1st team.
We will encourage our players to play creative, attacking football with a winning mentality. This is part of our Coaching Philosophy.
We will try to control the game by dominating possession. Our aim is to play out from the back and through midfield. To enable us to do this we must spread out and make the pitch as big as possible. Our players must look to play forward whenever possible and we must not miss a chance to turn, penetrate, or shoot. Our Club has a tradition of getting crosses into the box, but we must also teach our players to attack through the 18 yard line by playing clever, creative and inventive football.
Out of possession all players must have the mentality to defend. They must know their defensive roles and responsibilities and they must be difficult to beat in 1v1 situations.
Our teams must look to press whenever possible but if we cannot press we must be compact and patient. From this position we must look for opportunities to press.
Structure
We have six departments within the Academy, operating within a multi-disciplinary framework:
Our methods follow this simple structure:
Once a young player has been identified, recruited and registered, he enters our performance programme, which is at the heart of the overall Academy operation and at the forefront of elite young player development.
The programme is committed to enabling each player to fulfil his potential. In order to achieve this, the programme operates in an environment that is conducive to individual and team progress.
Technical and tactical
5-11 - Players master the basic skills and techniques of the game. At this stage, they fall in love with the game and are already playing their first matches in the famous blue and white as they develop in 1v1 to 8v8 situations.
12-16 - Whilst carrying on technical and skill work the emphasis switches to problem solving. At the end of this stage players will have an understanding of one or more positions in the 11v11 game.
17-18 - Players' techniques, skills and game understanding are fine-tuned on a day-to-day basis. Winning becomes increasingly important and players must learn the ways of professional football. It is possible to be selected for the first team at this stage!
Physical
We live in the age of the super-fit athlete and footballers are no different. Our young players learn the importance of strength, speed, flexibility, agility and conditioning and have individual programmes in order to improve each specific physical area.
Lifestyle
Experience has taught us that many talented youngsters fail to reach their potential due to a lack of understanding of certain issues within their individual environment. Players are given guidance on areas such as diet and nutrition, alcohol, time management, gambling, bullying, dealing with the media and many other challenges faced by young people. Parents are invited to join in such sessions and are given specific advice on how to support their son through his development programme.
Psychological
Football at the highest level demands incredible mental and emotional strength and resilience. We focus on the key areas of goal-setting, motivation, self-confidence, concentration and communication with all our players through a rigorous review and reflection process. Additional targeted support is available where necessary in this area.
The development and acquisition of psychological skills enable our players to improve their performance and to fulfil their potential.EVERTON FC COACHING STAFF
