Write about your Playing Ability : Mehdi has played football since he was able to walk, receiving his first football at age of 2. Mehdi has strong vision, intelligence, instinctive reaction and speed which we believe are the qualities a good footballer should have. Mehdi has built a reputation for his speed and agility. Opposition managers, coaches and parents always identify Mehdi as the ‘player to mark’ in games. His instincts and natural ability to play football has always been admired by his team mates and opposition. An example of his instinctive reaction would be, whilst playing for Tottenham Elites against Luton FC academy, Mehdi had sprinted down the right wing to support his midfielder but as possession was lost, he sprinted back to the goal line as his goalie was off his line and saved the lob that the Luton player tried to score. Mehdi is able to read the game with intelligence, with movement off the ball and on, making him instantly the stand out player in all the clubs he has played for. An example of his intelligence is that during the group games at the ESF tournament at Butlins last year, Mehdi had run with the ball down the line and was being marked by the defender. Mehdi took the ball all the way to the by-line, stopped the ball, took his defender with him and then lost him to come back to make the cross to score the goal. Although Mehdi has a lean frame, Mehdi has shown week in and week out that he is not afraid to tackle. I believe his coach at Tottenham said “Mehdi always plays with his heart”. This shows his sheer passion and love he has for the game and his determination to win. Mehdi’s dream is to become a footballer, like so many little boys dream. However it is not only the skills that makes one a footballer but also the love for the game and the intelligence and commitment one possesses to make it in professional football. We believe that Mehdi has all the skills and attributes to become a footballer. This letter is not only being written as mother, but also as a fan of football. The way Mehdi plays not also increases your admiration for the game, but also green with envy that such a young boy has the sheer audacity to play the way he does.
