Write about your football history : I started playing goalkeeper for a club when I was 12 or 13 but before that I always just used to play in my back garden with my best friend in my primary School days. My first ever game was very sudden I came to watch my friend play and their team Rattray boys FC were short of a goalkeeper and I was asked to play in the most tense game of my life, I was doing well and making saves and the atmosphere was good but it was 2-2 against Montrose and it went to penalties, I saved 2 penalties and we won the game with an amazing celebration at the end to get to the semi-final of the regional cup and it was a great introduction to my first game of football. Unfortunately after a great start and 5 games into my start of the season the team folded with some of them moving on pro youth academies. I moved on to a local team called Meigle Lads FC who were not exactly the best team in the world but it kept me busy in the goals but Meigle Lads FC folded as well very shorty due to lack of players so I hadn’t got through even half a season with a club yet so stopped for a while and I was only 13 or 14. When I was 15 I moved to Coupar Angus FC and actually I played outfield at RB and LB but it didn’t really work out during the season but now I have moved on it was beneficial because now I am very comfortable with my feet and have a better touch when I play as a goalkeeper now due to playing outfield.
Write about your Playing Ability : So 13/14 season I decided to back as a goalkeeper with some advice from my friends and I joined the Perth team Letham Sky Blues so this is my first proper season as a goalkeeper and it has gone really well so far. At the start of season in November I had a trial from the Scottish League one side Forfar Athletic FC but nothing happened but they were interested. The Stenhousemuir Assistant manager Kevin Mcgoldrick came a school training session and spoke to me at the end of the session and said he was very impressed and also very impressed how it is my first proper season as well but because my school is not really a football school and a private school also is in Perth nothing could be arranged. In next month or so I am trialling with St Johnstone FC at the moment who are in the Scottish Premier League this was due to a St Johnstone coach coming to regular training sessions and is interested but now I train at the St Johnstone all weather pitch with academy youth Goalkeepers and U17s year group. I get coached by Dunfermline coach John Ritchie and have good feedback from him. Clydebank BFC who is one of the best teams in Scotland gave great feedback to me at the end of our game. I have been chosen out of 1000s of applicants for the Nike Chance which is a trial for the Nike Academy and only 45 were selected, the trial was down in Manchester at the Etihad Stadium on the 23rd of February 2013 and it was a great experience even though only 1 person was chosen to succeed. At the Nike chance the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC goalkeeper coach was impressed that it was only my first season.
Why should an Academy Director give you a trial : I believe that i separate myself from the pack due to this reasons • First proper season as a goalkeeper and already had interest from clubs • Train every day in different ways to improve in different aspects to come as a full package • Have played outfield before so good feet and awareness • Play a variety of sports which benefits me • Training about 8 times a week which is great practise • Coaches believe I have potential as said from above I also do other sports as well, I Play for Glenalmond 1sts football team as goalkeeper. I also do a range of sports at school; I do rugby for 2nds/3rds team and hockey 2nds team out 4 teams as goalkeeper so this is also good for reflexes most of all practise. Before I used to do a fair amount of swimming for a club and Judo for a club plus winning some winning and runner up prizes for Judo. I do cross country at the school as well so it keeps me fit for games coming up.
