Write about your football history : I played a season at Young Lions F.C. for the under 11's, then due to family circumstances did not play for a few years. From the ages of 14-17 played at Shaftesbury Youth Club, before signing on for Crossway however due to University could not be committed to it.
Write about your Playing Ability : I started of as a sweeper in primary school, before progressing into the role of a centre back . Although I was not the most gifted footballer overall, my mental strength and drive to become better led me to develop into a better player. I finished my last two full seasons being deployed as a holding midfielder, who would roam in all areas across the back four. Pressing the opposition and knowing when too was part of my tactical knowledge progression. My primary role when I had recovered the ball through a tackle or interception was to lay it off to whoever was the playmaker in the team, ultimately I was a ball winner, who set the tone for the team, in terms of intensity in the middle of the park. In my experience of playing I played best in a 4-4-2 diamond, or a 4-5-1. However I did adapt to a 3-5-1 and 4-1-3-2 reasonably well. In terms of my style of play, I am more old shcool when it comes to winning a ball, if am going to take a kick in the face or elbow to the head, I would still go and win the ball. My top five skills in my opinion would be: Anticipation Positioning Communication Tackling Decision Making I realise in that list ther is very few technical skills, but for the position I played mental skills were important. I can pass the ball to a good level, not outstanding, however most the passes I played were short. My heading ability is of an ok level, but could be worked on. Pace is something that with training and match practice will develop, however I often relied more on my anticipation, to get myself in the right position.
Why should an Academy Director give you a trial : I would be worth a trial because of the passion and determination I have to succeed in the game. If I was to arrive at a trial 110% effort would be given, even if I was seen as the lowest level player at the trial, it would only motivate me to show I belong there. Despite not playing a few seasons because of university commitments, it has only made me more hungry to get back in the game and have an opportunity to seize my dream of playing. I am a hard working player, always intent on learning about the game and I believe 100% in the ethos of team first before any player. Even though my age is abit older than most applicants, it brings with it a level of maturity and knowing how to prepare for challenges and pressure situations. I know if any director/coach/manager was to give me a chance of a trial, they would be finding the most motivated player they have come across. Even if I was not to be successful in the trial, they would be left with an impression. Determination, leadership and a passion for the game is what I would bring to a trial.
