Tell us about your football history (Min 100 words) : I was a product of the late Tommy Burn's youth academy at Celtic FC. After signing with Celtic at age 11, much was expected from me, with write-ups in the clubs magazines and programs. I played in over 20 competitive matches for Scotland’s international youth squads from age’s u15 – U18. Disappointingly a hamstring injury in the U19’s squad forced my departure from Celtic in 2009. I spent the next few years falling in and out of football, before joining Elite Sporting Performance in 2012. I have worked very hard over the last year rehabilitating my injury and developed a strong mindset and work ethic. After finishing last season playing well with amateur teams I am 100% fit and have set my sights firmly on returning to professional football.
Write about your Playing Ability (Min 50 words) : I am a very creative player, who can play anywhere across the midfield, but specialize as a goal scoring forward. I am comfortable on both feet with good ball control and as such I like to take players on when appropriate, as often as I can. My range of passing, from short to long, is accurate and I have always taken set pieces in the teams I have played for. I would think my main strength is an eye for goal, with a strong accurate shot. I have always been a fast player, but in the last year I have worked more on my speed - my current PR in the 30m sprint is 4.3 seconds, but my coaches think I will run sub 4 with more training. I have incorporated strength training to my football training regime - currently my PR bench press is 93kg and my squat is 165kg.
Why should an Academy Director give you a trial (Min 50 words) : I believe that I should have a trial as I have an excellent pedigree of football experience, including playing in Europe for Celtic and International duties with Scotland. I am technically proficient and have an open mind-set for ongoing player development. Over the last 12 months I have followed an intense strength and conditioning program, gaining 6kg of lean muscle (1.76m and 73kg). I am now bigger, stronger and faster than when I played at Celtic. Every single day of my life I try to work as hard as I can, to become the best footballer I can be. This includes eating correctly, football training, skill practice, strength and conditioning, and quality rest. I believe that I would be an asset to any professional football team.
