OSA Academy History
OSA Football Academy was formed in September 2013 by Gary Bailey (Academy Manager) who had originally been an Education Officer for Herts Police.
He wanted to take his passion of educating students and Football Coaching experience to the next level so founded the OSA Football Academy.
In the first year the academy secured sponsors, partners and the much needed finances to support Hertfordshire’s only school that runs an independent Football Education Programme. The academy has the vision to run a programme that would enable students to stay in education whilst participating in an active football programme that is run similar to an academy structure.
OSA Football Academy has secured sponsorship from Orton Lift Escalators and has developed partnerships with Stevenage FC, Collegiate Soccer USA and more recently Hatfield Town FC.
Our partnerships mean that every student within the academy will have the opportunity of choosing a player pathway after they complete the programme. This could be attending University, securing an international scholarship in America or trailing for a semi-professional local club.
In September 2014 the first intake of students started their campaign in the English Colleges Football Association leagues. During their first year they achieved success in what was a very tough league and went through to the finals of the District Cup.
The OSA Football Academy is unique as students represent the school in all competitions and attend a level one 1st 4Sport coaching qualification.
This year we have three teams competing; OSA Hatfield Town FC in the ECFA College leagues, Hatfield Town OSA FC in the Southern Counties Floodlit League and the school’s own team – OSA Academy which compete for the National, County and District cups.
