SCFC 16-19YRS FOOTBALL STUDIES @ SARUM ACADEMY
Salisbury City Football Club are a non-league FA chartered standard community football club who play in the Conference South Division.
The club is excited about working in partnership with Sarum Academy to deliver a football/education course for boys aged between 16 and 19yrs. The course will begin in September 2013 and we are confident the course will be successful in many ways. The course is a 1,2 or 3yr course dependent on the academic qualification you study.
Our aim is to offer talented young footballers a chance to develop their talent with high quality coaching and progress through to our first team. More importantly the club feel that with the support of Sarum Academy we can create an environment where young men can mature and continue their academic qualifications in further education.
The club has a successful youth structure with teams in all age groups and will continue to grow and improve over the next few seasons. Our first team are currently top of the Conference South and pushing for promotion to the National Conference league. This season we have also started a reserve team to bridge the gap between youth football and competitive mens football. The Salisbury City Football Club ‘player pathway’ between 3yrs and mens football now offers a realistic development structure that allows young talented players to reach their potential.
On the competition front, players on the football studies course will be selected for and representing Salisbury City Football Club in the following:
- Conference Youth Alliance
- South West Counties
- College/youth league
- FA Youth Cup
- County Youth Cup
Our first team consists of full time professional players and coaching staff and the football studies course will also be delivered in a professional way. The club will provide the players medical, fitness and nutrition support as well as coaching from UEFA qualified coaching staff. The coaching and game program will focus on individual development within a team environment. With hard work, dedication and the right application from each player, they will not only progress as an individual but also as team.
Academics
Any player joining this course is a student. They will learn how to reach their potential as a footballer but the most important part to the course is their academic studies.
We want our players to value education highly, so no matter how talented they are as individuals they must understand they will not play a minute of football, unless they are up to date with all assignments and coursework in their subjects. Sarum Academy can offer players a variety of A-level subjects and B-TEC diplomas. They will work hard to deliver subject content and ensure that you achieve a qualification.
Exit Pathways
It is vital that each player on the course enjoys their time and achieves both as a footballer and with their academics. The skills learnt on the course will help open opportunities in the wider world. We will do all we can to help players progress to our first team or even to teams in higher leagues but in reality a large number of the players will need to consider work options and/ or higher education at a university. Salisbury City Football Club and Sarum Academy will work hard to develop partnerships with colleges and universities in the UK and abroad.
