IPSWICH TOWN Player Development Centres

    IPSWICH TOWN Player Development Centres

The Ipswich Town Player Development Centre (PDC) was established in 2008 replacing the Advanced Coaching Programme (ACP).

It is split into nine age groups – U8’s through to U16’s.

The Boys PDC is an invitation-only programme and is designed to provide weekly advanced coaching to the best young footballers in Suffolk who are not currently in an academy set up. Coaching takes place at Ipswich Town Football Club and our satellite training centre in Bury St Edmunds.

The PDC  feeds, the Ipswich Town Academy. The training and coaching provided at the PDC aims to challenge both technically and tactically giving young players the potential to make the next step up to Academy level.

The project delivers a games programme that allows participants to test their ability against other clubs including; Norwich City, Colchester United, Southend United and Cambridge United. In past years, PDC teams have played one-off matches against Premier League teams with Chelsea visiting Portman Road at the end of last season.   It is through such games that our coaches are able to attain a more rounded assessment of each player, an important element of our PDC monitoring of their progression, both in terms of training and match play. IPSWICH TOWN FC Football Player Development Centres, learn with advanced soccer coaching ITFC a youth Club offer academy trials

In addition to this we are able to offer PDC players the opportunity to compete internationally. Previous teams have seen success at the ‘Dana Cup’ in Denmark, in which over 20,000 players from across the world compete. Last season our U12 boy’s squad were unfortunate to loose in the quarter finals, our U15 boys reached the final of their age competition but lost on penalties.

These trips continue to benefit the individuals that represent the football club, along with great memories to take away. We are continuing to develop this area of our scheme to ensure that even more players will be able to enjoy this invaluable experience.

What you can expect from our Player Development Centres:

    • Improve the players technical abilities
    • All sessions are delivered by highly qualified coaches who work to a specifically designed technical programme which is age related with the main emphasis on development
    • To create a learning pathway that provides opportunities into the ITFC academy
    • Provide an enjoyable, safe and secure learning environment.
    • Show patience and understanding towards the players learning style and physical developments
    • Provide relevant feedback, both verbal and written assessments (at the end of each term)
    • Compliment the player's current provision (ie club football)

We are pleased to confirm that from this coming season (2012/13) we will be introducing a new structure to how we run our Goalkeeping Player Development Centre. These changes will include our Goalkeeping development centres running across two 15 week blocks (as opposed to the previous three 10 week blocks).

During these 15 weeks of training, our Goalkeepers will be integrated into game related outfield training sessions to help develop their positioning, game understanding as well as communicating with defenders.

If you are unsure if training is going to take place due to poor weather please phone the WEATHER HOTLINE NUMBER on 01473 400192 before leaving for training.

Request a Trial with Ipswich Town FC Academy

In an effort to avoid your disappointment, Ipswich Town Football Club will not normally invite a player in for a trial unless one of our scouts has seen him play and thinks he is of the required standard. Our scouts continually watch the best standard, and teams, of football in their allocated areas, and they will only recommend a player for trials who they feel has a high level of all-round ability, along with the attributes required to become a professional footballer.

Players should be playing regularly for a club. Players aged 16-18 should be playing at a competitive standard (we would suggest at least semi professional non-League football). You should also hold a British or EU passport, or have ‘leave to remain’ in this country. If the above applies to you send a football CV
