    Rotherham United FC Elite Development Centre Trial Details

    Rotherham United FC’s Elite Development Centres are offering trials to players of a good standard at local club level aged 7-14 (school year 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10). We would like boys to register their interest at one of the following centres;

    (LEEDS) John Charles Centre For Sport, Middleton Grove, Leeds, LS11 5DJ

    (SHEFFIELD) Springs Academy, Hurlfield Road, Sheffield, S12 2SF

    (CHESTERFIELD) Springwell Community College, Middlecroft Road South, Staveley, Chesterfield, S43 3NQ

    (DEARNE VALLEY) Dearne Valley College, Golden Smithies Lane, Manvers Park, Wath Upon Dearne, Rotherham, S63 7JZ

    Rotherham United Football Club Development Centres operate similarly to the Football Club’s Centre of Excellence, following the same technical syllabus, so that if players are offered a trial with the Centre of Excellence, then the transition from Development Centre to the Centre of Excellence is made as easy as possible.

    Trials for Rotherham United Football Club Development Centres will be held for 3 weeks, and every player is required to attend all 3 dates. If any of the week’s players are unavailable, extended trials will be offered. If a trialist is successful, training would continue as part of their Development, once a week, throughout the year as well as playing in competitive games against other Professional Football Clubs.

    Liam Sutcliffe, Regional Development Centre Manager says,

    "Rotherham is looking for young driven players for their development centres. Our aim is to produce technically proficient, physically capable and mentally strong players. We would like to think talented young players and their parents can see that Rotherham really want to produce their own players. All players whether scouted or invited following application will be introduced to the club through the Development Centre network. This commitment to youth is central to the club's policy and will offer numerous future opportunities.

    I am actively involved with the running of every Development Centre and often discuss player progression, development and assessments with the coaches. Players who continuously progress and reach the standard required are then offered the opportunity to go into the Centre of Excellence at Rotherham United Football Club"

    Any football players who attend Rotherham United Football Club Development Centres can still continue playing local club football. You do not have to leave club football to attend our Centre’s if successful.
