    BASHLEY FC ACADEMY TRIALS

The College has developed a very successful Football Academy over the last seven years

The College has developed a very successful Football Academy over the last seven years, which continues to grow from strength to strength, gaining significant local and national achievements. It is now established as one of the top FE based Football Academies outside the professional game.

We have four men’s teams within the Academy spanning Elite, who compete in the Youth Alliance Football Conference, through to Performance and Development who compete in the Hampshire Colleges Leagues. This encompasses 80 players, all of whom follow a structured training programme receiving five hours specialist coaching each week as well as competitive matches. Alongside the Academy teams, we have football and futsal enrichment teams who play friendlies throughout the course of the year against other college enrichment and development teams.

    Community links

We have longstanding links with AFC Bournemouth and Portsmouth FC, whose Youth Teams are educated by Brockenhurst College Lecturers on the LFE programme. As of the 2013/14 season some of the Brockenhurst College Football Academy players will be offered the opportunity to train with the Club’s Youth Team scholars on a day-release programme, structured around their academic studies.

In 2011, Brockenhurst College Football Academy and Evostik Southern League side Bashley Football Club, established a unique partnership which is committed to supporting the growth of each individual player within the Football Academy. It exists to identify, attract and retain players, nurture a player’s footballing development and ultimately prepare 16-19 year olds for semi-professional football. This provides all of our Academy players with a great opportunity to play senior football and break into the Bashley Football Club’s first team.

    Achievements

In 2013, Brockenhurst College Football Academy won the British Colleges National Cup, having previously won the competition in 2010. The team also reached the 2012 final, losing narrowly after extra time. The Academy also won the British Colleges South East Performance League in 2010/11 and had two players selected for International Representative honours (Jordan Seabright (2010/11) and Adam Stride (2011/12).

At elite level three Brockenhurst Academy players have signed professional contracts with Football League Clubs.  In 2011 Jordan Seabright signed for AFC Bournemouth and has since joined Dagenham & Redbridge, whilst Michael Green signed for Port Vale.  More recently in 2012 Will Aimson signed for Hull City. Having gained promotion to the Premier League with Hull City, Will has now signed a new contract and hopes to get his first Premier League appearance in the 2013/14 season.
