Difficulty - Medium
The WIDE PLAY IN A FUNCTION is based around creating options to play wide, and once we receive the ball, how we can effect the game positively.
Session Requirements
- 12 players
- 3 sets of bibs (4 of each colour)
- Cones
- Area size 20 x 20 (increase depending on progressions)
- 5 x 5 mini zones on outside
- Footballs (Age appropriate)
Information
- 4v4 in the middle with 4 players out wide
- In the middle, two teams must keep possession of the ball until they can pass out to one of the 4 red bibs
- The outside players cannot move out of the 5 x 5 mini zones marked out by cones
- In order to score a point, the teams in the middle must play to a wide man (red), who must then play the ball down the channel to his opposite team member (red).
- The wide players must not switch the pass, as they can only score by playing on the outside of the area
- If the pass is not on, encourage the red team to play back into the team who gave them the ball first.
- First team to 5 then swap over (or time depending)
- Teams in the middle can intercept the pass from red to red.
